The commitment statement 2020

We commit to ensuring that we will implement the 10 National principles for child safe organisations in our continued pursuit  of best practice in creating an environment where children’s safety and wellbeing is  core and an emphasis is placed on genuine student engagement and creating conditions which reduce the likelihood of harm.

We commit to the eSafety Commissioner’s Online Safety Educational Framework as a  guide for all esport and related STEM initiatives. We will help participating schools assess the quality of programs and approaches in esport and STEM initiatives against the Online safety educational framework.

We commit to utilising the eSafety Commissioner’s 4Rs of Online Safety: Respect, Responsibility, Resilience and Reasoning as an ethical framework for online engagement and to empower young people in the online space.

We commit to mitigating and responding to the evolving risks in esports and online concerns, namely: contact, conduct, content and commercialism. We will engage with school communities, students, parents and carers in order to address concerns.

We commit to empowering students and schools to build resilience through using restorative practises to effect a positive cultural change. We will utilise the eSafety Commissioner’s and ACRA educational curriculum to promote respectful relationships and safe long-term

 behaviours, focusing on:

  • values, rights and responsibilities
  • well being
  • respectful relationships
  • digital media literacy
  • informed and safe use of information and devices
